Melia Goodenow

Hawaiian Flower Essences

HHP HMT students learn about aroma therapy, essential oils and Hawaiian flower essences. Our classroom is in Hawaii's beautiful nature, in the kitchen, in the lab learning to create tinctures, massage oils and flower remedies, and in the massage clinic as we learn some of the many therapeutic uses (and contra-indications) of healing plants in hands-on practice. We have several instructors for in-depth training. We travel as a week long school field trip to Big Island to Volcano and the rain forest to study with master teachers and learn in nature and attune with the elements of Fire and the Forest; Pele and Hi'iaka.

"flower essences contain therapeutic benefits that aid in soothing and balancing the emotions and managing everyday choices.  Flower essences are the healers of the modern age, going to the root of our problems and emotional issues. They release us from hurtful and fearful memories that tie upon our health and energy; opening up once blocked areas to then be filled with the health and peace of the present moment. In the present moment is where we can see clearly and make good, healthy choices for our lives."

Based on training passed down to their family from Kahuna La’au Lapa’au and other native plant medicine healers, Hawaiian Rainforest Naturals, Inc. has been making Hawaiian flower essences and body care treatments for over 25 years.  Co-founder, Melia Goodenow will be giving these workshops focusing on the special attributes of Hawaiian plants, flowers and their essences.

"Flower essences are designed to help you meet the challenges of everyday living.  Our mission is to help people bring their emotions into a state of Pono, harmony and connectedness with nature. This is the role of our flower essences, to bring people’s awareness into the present moment and release emotional tension caused by past experiences or worrying about the future.  In this state of Pono is where we make our flower essences, bringing the healing energy of the flowers forward. We strive to maintain Pono in all that we do. We put our integrity and Aloha into all of our products and treatments, always remembering to give thanks and to give back to the Earth by taking care of this unique and sacred place."

Melia is a flower essence practitioner and Head teacher for HRN classes and workshops. She practices lomilomi massage, energy healing, la’au lapa’au, ho’oponopono, hula and other various Hawaiian healing arts.  Her intuitive abilities and connection to nature make her workshops a transformative and amazing experience

Danielle Paulon

B.S. Psychology (Pontifical Catholic University of SP).<br>Certified Crystal Healing Teacher by The Crystal Academy of Advanced Healing Arts - Kauai

Program: HHP Crystal Healing

I’m originally from Brazil, however I’ve been “called” to Kauai in 1996, where I completed beginning, intermediate and advanced crystal healing classes w/ founder of The Crystal Academy of Advanced Healing Arts: Katrina Raphaell.

This training completely changed my life as I started on this amazing spiritual path. I always knew I was here to help people, just wasn’t clear how. I’m also a psychologist, having obtained my degree in São Paulo, Brazil prior to moving to Kauai. I later took a teacher’s training course, also on Kauai, and became a crystal healing teacher. I have taught in Brazil, as well as at Quantum School of Massage and Holistic Health.

Crystal healing affects all of our bodies, physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It’s all about light, color and frequency. Crystals placed on the body resonate with our auric field, assisting in clearing blockages that have accumulated in certain areas due traumatic events over the years. Unprocessed emotions can cause energy to get stuck in certain places and stop the natural flow of chi through the chakra system.

We are also collectively experiencing a deep paradigm shift currently on the planet, signaling the end of an era and beginning of a new one, an age of Light and this can cause challenges to some of our outgrown beliefs systems.

Crystal healing can assist in revisiting those beliefs, letting go of the ones that no longer serve us, replacing them with more up to date views of life and what it means to be alive for each one of us, as well as find purpose and peace in our daily life. The Journey is The Destination.

Fun fact: Danielle is a world traveler, but her house at the base of Koko Head is a magical crystal healing temple and if you are good, she might invite your class to a field trip at her hale.

Michael Merrimer, LMT

LMT Professional Development - Life Skills

Program: LMT Level 1 + 2 Yoga / Acupressure /Massage

Michael Merrimer, LMT 5342 has been teaching and working with clients on Oahu since 1998. A massage therapist, he began looking at ways to help his clients be more proactive in addressing their stiffness, soft tissue pain, and stress-related discomforts, introducing yoga as an active part of his massage practice.

My philosophy in practice draws on an ingrained sense of personal responsibility and integrity throughout my life. Listening to a client’s needs and interests allows for mutual understanding in the process of the treatment, helping to assure a more successful outcome. Outside my office practice, I have worked with the Cancer Research Center of Hawaii as a clinical massage instructor participating in a multi-year study of massage for breast and prostate cancer patients. I have been contracted by Honolulu businesses to provide on-site massage and health care for office workers. I have served on the Hawaii Chapter of the American Massage Therapy Association where I focused on continuing education and professional development. I was able to set up advanced medical massage workshops and have done volunteer massage for special events such as Special Olympics, Strength for the Journey, Food Bank, Life Foundation, The Art of Massage.

My experience in conducting yoga exercises for community groups has been useful in helping people better understand body movements and limitations at Specialty Health Centers such as Kapiolani Woman's Health Center, Arcadia, Pohai Nani, Shambala Center, Hawaii Woman's Center.

On a more personal note, I have interests in travel (especially Italy); anthropology; ;music; alternative medical practice; alternate culture; ocean sports.

Many people believe that the health benefits of Thai massage include lowering stress, boosting energy, and improving athletic performance.

Thai massage is a cultural healing practice that uses gentle pressure and stretching techniques to relax the whole body. This is an ancient healing practice that originated in India. It dates back to around 2,500–7,000 years ago.

The technique that Thai massage practitioners use is very different from what people in the West may be accustomed to when we hear the word "massage". Unlike Swedish or shiatsu massage techniques, in which a person passively lies on a bed, the client lies on the floor fully clothed and participates more actively in the massage much like partner yoga or assisted stretches. The massage practitioner may use feet, hands, knees, elbows, or even special massage tools to assist in the muscle stretches that help the person feel limber and lively.

Note: Pictured is Pyewacket, well known Facebook personality, she is a mixture of Siamese/Mongoose.
She is our director of brick relaxation techniques, and is eager to learn Thai Massage.
